Mary Foley Benson (1905-1992) was a US entomological and botanical illustrator who worked with many scientists both on the East and the West coast, as well for institutions such as the USDA, the Smithsonian, and the University of California. She also had a fine arts career, exhibiting country-wide, and served as a pilot during WWII. In this presentation, Tunić will share his research at UC Davis (the Bohart Museum of Entomology and Peter J. Shields library) which houses one of two largest collections of her work in the country, and discuss the history of natural science illustration in the US.
